2012, GSA announced it was going to be moving out of the Bannister Federal Complex, an oversized WWII-era manufacturing facility. The agency began a 3-year process to relocate to new leased space in downtown Kansas City, MO. As part of the planning stages, GSA Public Buildings Service (PBS) created a 7,000 SF “Mobility Test Bed” space in which open office concepts and desk sharing methods were piloted. PBS was able to gather employee feedback in order to help inform the design and layout for the new office space.

All phases of the move out of the Bannister Federal Complex were complete in March of 2015. The new GSA Region 6 headquarters office space effectively reduced the agency’s federal footprint by more than half, saving taxpayers millions of dollars over the 20 year lease term. The new space has eliminated private offices for all staff, except for those within the Inspector General and General Counsel. There are approximately 600 workstations that are available via a reservation system called BookIt!, and an additional 50 workstations are on an unreserved, free-address basis.

The project has increased employee satisfaction by providing a variety of workstation seating arrangements, from a heads down configuration to a collaborative layout, allowing staff to select the workstation configuration that best suits their work style for that day. Additionally, the space is designed in a neighborhood layout, which helps to provide a sense of ownership in an otherwise unassigned work area. A variety of collaborative rooms are scattered throughout each neighborhood, ensuring that staff do not have to travel far to find an appropriately sized room. Collaborative spaces range in size from a single person phone room to a 24+ person conference room. A large GSA conference center on the 1st floor provides space for training classes and all-hands meetings. Two break rooms per full-floor provide an informal gathering space for staff to reconnect with teammates.

Starting at the March 2016 Program Meeting, KCIFMA will no longer provide a “Pay at the Door” option for Program Meetings.  Please continue to use a PayPack (the pre-paid meeting voucher) or Pay Online with Credit Card.   

Also, if for some reason you are not able to register in advance, we very much encourage you to attend the meeting, bring your entrance fee in cash, and bring your own lunch.

Registration Deadlines:

Due to catering order requirements, registrations/RSVPs must be received by (or cancelled by) 12:00 noon Friday, March 11th (48 business hours before the Program Meeting). 

If your registration is not received by the deadline, we will not be able to provide you with food or drink. We do, however, encourage you to attend. To do so, join us and pay the regular program fee at the door by cash or check and join us at the meeting.
